All the art and craft shows are cancelled, and after 6 weeks of being hunkered down in Midland, Little Scotia is taking it's show online.
I opened up the totes that carry all the goodies from craft show to farmers market, to flea market to fair, and have taken pictures of all the in-stock cross stitches, dolls, Russian stacking dolls, ACEO's and Greeting cards, and am listing them individually on the Little Scotia shop page at Facebook. It's easier for me to manage, because we can't at this time, manage having to ship items. This way we can focus on local contactless delivery in Midland Ontario, Port McNicoll, Victoria Harbour, Elmvale, Wyebridge, Penetanguishene, Lafontaine, and the areas in between. If you are a little out of the local delivery area, we offer contactless porch pick up also at our location. Our payments are the same - etransfer, PayPal or Square through online invoicing (which will allow you to pay by credit card.) We are available for cross stitch commissioned work, if you are looking for a truly unique piece for birthdays, mothers day, or just to cheer up someone who is self distancing or in self isolation. Finish times may vary, however, on the size of the project. We are focusing on shopping local for our needs, and we thank YOU for also choosing to shop local for gifts and fun stuff at Little Scotia.

I am terrifically excited about the art show at the end of the month! Little Scotia will be showing off the "Granny Craft Skills with Punk Rock Attitude" at Three Crows Speak Studio in Orillia this summer! I've made dolls, some naughty and sassy cross stitches and embroidery, and am working on some Art Cards for the show. There will be surprises. This is really a combination of everything that's been happening in my world over the last year - shifting into being a "Baba", and being so full of piss and vinegar, with the intent to deliver comedy and love in the same breath. (I simply refuse to be anything other than what I am, and this show will put all of that in the spot light.) The picture above is of the post cards I had made. They will go out to the patrons on my Patreon page first, and the only pictures released before the show of the new art I've made will be on the patreon page exclusively for patrons. Membership has its privileges, yo. This is a big step for Little Scotia! Three Crows Speak Studio is located at 9 Peter Street South, in Orillia. The opening event will be from 1pm to 3pm on June 29th, and the show will run all summer long, until August 27th, 2019. The studio is right around the corner from Mariposa Market and is in the heart of the Art District. Also, if you've not even MET Baba yet,... You should. She's funny as all get-out. Meet Baba Here. L. P.S. I may be biased about Baba's comedy stylin's. Go see for yourself. A fresh new look for Little Scotia!
The name Little Scotia came from my yearning to be "down home", in Nova Scotia. It's where my family comes from, and I've completely romanticised the idea of running away and living in a big home, sewing dollies and making toys. When we were kids, my mother moved us to Midland Ontario, after living for years all over Toronto, because Midland reminded her of Nova Scotia. We're on the water, there's lots of trees, and I know how to find a great kitchen party. We have a little cottage house with a bit of yard to garden in. We are steps away from Georgian Bay, and our downtown core is a friendly place filled with small businesses owned by families. All my family is here in Midland, and so the idea of running away to Nova Scotia had to take a back seat. Instead, I've been creating a down-home feel right where I am. Surrounding myself with family, toys and dolls, music and laughter. Each piece is handmade by me - I'm Lori - with attention to details and a little magic sing song in the creation. Each doll tells me her story as she's brought to life, each painting has a tune and energy sung into it, each miniature is cooed over as I paint and sculpt. |
